The most notable universities in Lima include Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University, Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, National Major San Marcos University, Peruvian University of Applied Sciences, University of the Pacific, Agrarian National University, and the University of Lima. 

The Universidad de Lima or University of Lima is arguably the most well known and reputable Peruvian university. University of Lima was established in 1962 and has since grown to offer students as many as 13 majors, one general studies course, and one postgraduate school. This university also has a scientific research institute and currently admits more than 20,000 local and international students during an academic session.

Application forms are typically submitted along with an application fee (where applicable) and proper documentation, such as; a copy of your birth certificate, international passport, passport photographs, academic certificates and transcripts, a medical health insurance cover, police clearance certificate, and a student visa with a 90 day validity period.
